Sport at Wantirna College aims to develop the personal growth of all students and encourage students to engage in a healthy and active lifestyle. At Wantirna, we understand the importance that sport plays in the success and development of the whole child. Sport improves physical fitness, develops sportsmanship and teamwork, promotes self-esteem and confidence, and builds strong connectedness within the school community through student and staff interaction. The participation in sport assists students in promoting values and personal habits that relate to self-discipline, persistence, collaboration and fair play. It is our aim to ensure we have a wide range of sporting opportunities available to all students. We measure the success of our program based on the high levels of participation from students at each year level in sports.
Wantirna College has a long history of success in Interschool sport. Our reputation as a strong sporting school is built on the success of many of our teams and individual sportsmen and women competing and achieving outstanding results in competition as division, regional and state level. There are ample opportunities for students to be involved in team and individual sports and competitors, coaches and officials.
Wantirna College is in the Eastern Metropolitan Region and Knox Division of School Sport Victoria (SSV).
