SKEPSI

Skepsi is Wantirna College’s Year 7 and 8 high abilities program, designed for students who are 12 months (or more) ahead in literacy and numeracy skills, who will benefit from greater challenge, depth and complexity in their learning.
The program provides an accelerated and enriched curriculum that encourages students to think critically, creatively and independently. Drawing on the Greek word for “thought”, Skepsi reflects our belief that high-ability learners thrive when they are challenged to question, analyse, solve problems, make connections and apply their learning in meaningful ways.
Skepsi students are supported through differentiated learning across their studies. Teachers use evidence of student learning to identify what students already know, and provide opportunities for deeper inquiry, collaboration, real-world problem-solving and creative application. Alongside academic extension, the program also supports students’ social and emotional growth, ensuring they are challenged within a supportive and well-rounded learning environment.
Skepsi is a select entry program where students are required to sit the High Ability Selection Test, an assessment designed by the Australian Council for Education Research to differentiate top-performing students. The test assesses reading comprehension, numeracy and abstract reasoning skills.
