School for Student Leadership

Each term, small teams of around 5-6 year 9 students selected from both metropolitan and country schools attend the Snowy River Campus. The selection and allocation of School Teams from across Victoria, enables students from various backgrounds to connect and benefit from the shared experiences and opportunities provided through the program. The school provides a fully residential experience for one school term with accommodation for up to 45 students in a purpose-built facility.

Students live and work in a very close environment with their peers; They sleep, eat, shower and work all under the one roof and share the same experiences of the neighbouring environment. They undertake activities designed to build their leadership skills and, within their school team, work on a community project that they bring back and action at school.  Recent community projects have included a sensory garden, Year 7 Wellbeing Day and a Year 7 Transition brochure.

“During my time at SSL, I was involved in a range of new experiences and opportunities including surfing, caving, fishing, visiting the local nursing home and completing our Hike/Bike Ride Expedition.
