Wellbeing
We believe that student wellbeing is the foundation for successful learning and life success. We are committed to nurturing and promoting the physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing of every student.
Wellbeing Approach
Our goal is to develop a school culture where student wellbeing is embedded into everyday practice through a proactive, preventative and strength-based approach that supports the holistic development of all learners.
We aim to empower every individual to build resilience, flourish in life, thrive academically and be prepared to navigate life beyond school.
Our approach is designed to cultivate a safe, inclusive and connected school community through a multi-tiered approach:
- Universal Supports (Tier 1 – all students) such as classroom practices, school-wide positive behaviour expectations, explicit teaching of social and emotional learning, mental health literacy, lunchtime clubs, whole-school wellbeing and engagement days, and Respectful Relationships Programs.
- Early Intervention Supports (Tier 2 – some students) such as small group targeted workshops, behavioural/educational intervention programs, mentoring, restorative conversations.
- Intensive Tailored Mental Health support (Tier 3 – few students) such as one-to-one wellbeing counselling, referrals to external agencies (i.e. psychologists), student plans/recommendations, individualised and targeted parent resources and support.
Further information can be found in the College Student Wellbeing and Engagement Policy.
All College staff are involved in driving our Wellbeing approach and students are given agency and voice in Wellbeing matters. Students can request Wellbeing support or to be involved in programs and activities.
We are very fortunate to have a terrific team who can offer this support, they include:
Leader of Wellbeing: Chelsea Collings
Mental Health Practitioner: Tajinder Wulff
Mental Health Practitioner: Joel Taylor
School Counsellor: Guiseppe Relia
School Counsellor: Talea-Jane Simpson
Social Worker: Jane Winning
Each semester we also have social worker and counselling placement students who work with the team to support our students.
Each edition of the College Newsletter includes a Student Wellbeing page and a Parent Wellbeing page with relevant articles, information and support contact details. Newsletters can be accessed here.
