Art and Technology
An appreciation of Art and Design developed through application and skill is essential for a rich and meaningful life and can lead to a range of unique, productive careers.
Visual Art and Technology at Wantirna College is a dynamic, hands-on, and innovative learning area, giving students the chance to develop skills in creative thinking, problem-solving, and technical application across a variety of subjects. Students engage with practical projects, experiment with different media, and explore new ideas, preparing them for further study and careers in the arts, design, and digital technologies.
In Years 7 and 8, students experience a rotation program, exploring a range of hands-on Technology subjects throughout the year. Each term, they rotate through Food Studies, Textiles, Systems Engineering, and Product Design and Technology. Year 7 students also study Digital Technology across the year, building essential 21st-century digital literacy skills to thrive in a modern world.
In Years 9 and 10, students have the opportunity to select from a range of practical, creative and innovative subject across both Visual Art and Technology. These subjects are aimed at providing a foundation for students to develop skills that will best prepare them for the transition to VCE.
