The Humanities
Understanding how societies function, how cultures evolve, and how people interact with the world around them is essential to developing active, informed and responsible citizens. Humanities provides students with the skills to think critically, evaluate evidence, and understand their place in a complex and ever-changing world.
Studies in Humanities offer students a curriculum that is engaging, contemporary, challenging and relevant to their lives. Through the exploration of History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship, and Economics & Business, students gain an understanding of human behaviour, decision-making, institutions, and the interconnectedness of societies at local, national and global levels.
The Humanities program equips students with essential 21st century skills, including critical thinking, research, problem-solving, communication and ethical decision-making. By investigating the past, analysing current issues, and considering future possibilities, students build the capacity to participate thoughtfully and confidently in their communities.
After exposure to a broad range of learning opportunities in Years 7 and 8, students are able to make informed choices about the electives they can select in Years 9 and 10.
